Nathan Lyon Wins Rockingham
Last Friday, June 26th, the OSCC Oculos Glasses Throwback Series went to Rockingham Speedway for the second ever race in the league's existence. After a rocky Daytona 500, which was cut short due to rain, the OSCC Battle at the Rock 500, ran clean and green for the first 75 laps, until Reece Verrett in the #17 Thunderbird spun in Turn 3. David Shutt, who started 2nd, led the first 20 laps, until Jake Nichols passed him to lead until Lap 55, when he would pit and Kyle Putz would take over for 6 laps. Matt Everhart took the lead for a lap as green flag pit stops cycled, which put Nathan Lyon out in the lead to the first caution. Shutt took the lead once again until Lyon took the lead for an additional 49 laps, through one caution, which was brought out by a spin by Keith Jeffery, who spun after contact with Gary Watterworth. The race resumed for 2 laps, and another caution gave Putz the lead via strategy, when he stayed out and would lead for 8 laps until Nathan Lyon would lead to the end. In total, there were 3 cautions for 15 laps, with 6 leaders over 9 different lead changes. This Friday, July 3, The Oculos Glasses Throwback Series heads to Richmond Raceway for the 3rd race of the season. Jake Nichols leads Kyle Putz by 5 points, followed by Matt Everhart, Anthony Orlando, and Scott Cozart.
